The word chiropractic comes from an ancient Greek word meaning done by hand. Adjustment of the joints in the body has been used in the art of healing for many centuries and is at the heart of modern chiropractic care. Chiropractors are specialist's in manual adjustments of the vertebrae and other joints. Adjustments help relieve pain and restore normal function to the spine, joints and supporting structures of the body.

Physiotherapy

phisiotherapy services

Physiotherapy focuses on evaluating, restoring and maintaining function and movement through physical means. Our physiotherapist is experienced in a wide range of chronic, acute and athletic related injuries and conditions. Our physiotherapist will work with the patient to set realistic goals and an individualized treatment plan to help achieve optimal health and well-being.

Vestibular Rehabilitation
Vestibular therapy includes the use of black out goggle technology, which allows our therapist to analyze the eyes movement. This identifies and rules out conditions of dizziness, vertigo, tumor, labrinythitis, neuritis, and any inner ear imbalance.

BPPV (Benign Paroxysmal Position Vertigo)

Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) is one of the most common causes of vertigo — the sudden sensation that you're spinning or that the inside of your head is spinning.

Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo is characterized by brief episodes of mild to intense dizziness. Symptoms of benign paroxysmal positional vertigo are triggered by specific changes in the position of your head, such as tipping your head up or down, and by lying down, turning over or sitting up in bed. You may also feel out of balance when standing or walking.

Although benign paroxysmal positional vertigo can be a bothersome problem, it's rarely serious except when it increases the chance of falls. You can receive effective treatment for benign paroxysmal positional vertigo during an appointment with us.

Low Intensity Laser Therapy

Low Intesity Laser Therapy

Low intensity laser therapy (LILT) uses photons of light to stimulate cells in damaged tissue. The light from the laser provides a source of energy that cells use to repair themselves. This results in the restoration of normal cell function and the relief of pain. The treatment is non-invasive and non-toxic and typically lasts between 30 and 60 minutes.

The healing power of low intensity lasers is not a new invention. First developed in Europe and used for over 50 years across the medical community, lasers continue to be used in surgery, dentistry, optometry and plastic surgery. Each day the discovery of new uses for laser therapy grows and is helping us remain healthy, active and fit.

Your treatment plan is based on techniques proven by research that are specific to your condition. Our certified laser therapists have a breadth of knowledge and experience that will ensure a treatment plan that works to heal your condition and subsequently relieve your pain.

Smoking Cessation
smoking cessation services

Here at Accelerated Health and Wellness Centre we are happy to announce our new Laser Therapy Smoking Cessation Program.

We are committed to helping smokers kick the habit.

Through a combination of low-level laser therapy and individual coaching, AH&WC offers smokers an innovative way to make today the first day of their "new lives." A study by the National University of Singapore shows up to 94% success rates utilizing low-level laser therapy smoking cessation(1).Others report 64- 85% success rates.

Jana Stewart, M.A. is a certified laser therapist specializing in Smoking Cessation and weight loss. She is both a Meditech-Bioflex Canada certified laser therapist and psychotherapist - professionally trained at Lesley College Graduate School in Cambridge Massachusetts in the counselling psychology field. Having worked professionally in the Boston area for 7 years, she is now residing in the Niagara area and is available to assist our clients in becoming non-smokers in as little as 60 minutes.

Located at Accelerated & Wellness Centre, in the heart of St. Catharines, the location is as easy to get to as receiving the treatment.

Using a soft laser light probe, no more powerful than a light bulb, AH&WC’s Smoking Cessation treatment session is painless, non-invasive, non-toxic and drug-free.

The mechanism behind LLLT is biostimulation based on traditional Chinese medicine and ear acupuncture – known as auriculotherapy. It simply focuses a laser beam, which stimulates specific energy points in the ears, face, head and hands that are associated with nicotine addiction. This helps to promote the release of neurotransmitters in the brain and endorphins in the body to break the addiction cycle.

Endorphins are the body's natural chemicals which help calm and relax clients, making it overwhelmingly easier to cope with and reduce cravings and withdrawal symptoms that arise from giving up nicotine. Some clients leave a treatment session in a state of euphoria. This technology, coupled with our behavioural modification addiction counselling and nutritional guidance typically has a 75% - 85% stop smoking success rate.

The low-level laser does not take away your psychological addiction to nicotine. Each client has a unique level to his/her addiction, so laser therapy cannot be guaranteed.

At Accelerated Health & Wellness Centre, we work closely with each client to support them in achieving their optimal goals. Also, there are two basic contraindications for low level laser therapy - patients on photoactive medication and women in their first trimester of pregnancy.

As our on-site therapist, Jana Stewart educates, counsels and supports clients during the 60 minute treatment. With personal commitment, clients are equipped with the knowledge of how to deal with their new lifestyle change of quitting smoking. The session also addresses the client's current habits, withdrawal symptoms and cravings in addition to providing nutritional information which will help their bodies become nicotine free more quickly.

The treatment has been used for over 30 years in Europe and Canada and is approved by Health Canada for specific applications.

In 2003, an Institutional Review Board (IRB) authorized investigational clinical trials using low-level laser therapy in compliance with FDA regulations in the US.Clinical trials are conducted to measure the safety and effectiveness of low-level laser therapy to treat nicotine addiction.

In accordance with FDA guidelines, all treatment being offered must be safe, as well as ethical. The FDA has already ruled low-level laser therapy as a "non-significant risk".

For the benefit of our clients' health and well-being, Accelerated Health and Wellness Centre’s laser therapy Smoking Cessation treatment is an excellent value.

At a pack a day, for about four weeks worth of cigarettes or $300, smokers can be well on their way to a smoke free life.
